Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) - Department of Art Curating

Description

The Environmental Art Festival – Villa De Sanctis Casa della Cultura was conceived as a research and artistic production project promoted by the Department of Art Curating at RUFA.

The festival is dedicated to themes of sustainability, ecology, and the relationship between contemporary artistic practices and territory, with particular attention to the urban natural environment.

The call invites young artists to submit a project conceived for the Park of Villa De Sanctis, Casa della Cultura - encouraging site-specific interventions, temporary installations, and artistic practices capable of engaging in dialogue with space, landscape, and community.

Theme

Theme of the call: Symbiosis

Description: The cooperation of art, nature, and the community.

Eligibility

The call is open to:

● Currently enrolled students at an art or design institution worldwide
● Alumni who graduated no more than three years ago

Artist Selection

A maximum of 12 artists can be selected:

● 6 artists selected by a jury composed of faculty members and art professionals
● 6 artists selected by RUFA Art Curating students, who will take on the role of festival curators

The EXTERNAL JURY will be composed by:

Participation Guidelines

This is a call for art project proposals.

Applicants may participate with an existing artwork or a new site-specific project especially created for this Festival. Please bear in mind that all finished artworks should be weather-proof.

In order to be considered, artists should submit:

● Portfolio of works (max.12 works)
● Artist biography (max. 500 characters)
● Certificate of university enrollment or degree certificate (PDF)
● Up to 4 pictures (JPG or PDF) of the completed artwork. In the case of 3D works, show all the sides of the piece. Indicate title, year of completion, material, dimensions
● In the case of site-specific installations or performances, please include a precise description of technical requirements and installation specifications, as well as clear plans and sketchup images

All artworks must be consistent with the theme of the call and adaptable to the context of Villa De Sanctis.

International artists are welcome to apply. However, please note that each participant will be responsible for the shipping of their artworks to and from the exhibition. Travel and lodging arrangements will be the responsibility of the participants.

Selection Criteria

Projects will be evaluated on the basis of:

● Consistency with the theme of the call
● Artistic and conceptual quality
● Relationship with the environmental and urban context
● Technical feasibility and sustainability of the intervention

Resolutions will be announced on July 27th.
